About Study Course

Objective

Organised knowledge of the normal microflora in the oral cavity. Knowledge of oral bacteria classification and reclassification principles, morphology, properties, cultivation and identification methods. The oral cavity and the external environment; the normal microflora and its positive and negative effects; cariogenic bacteria and periodontal pathogens, interaction with macroorganism.

Preliminary Knowledge

Basic knowledge of biology, anatomy, histology, physiology, immunology, virology and general microbiology.

Learning Outcomes

Knowledge

1.Obtain basic knowledge of the role of normal microflora in oral ecology, aerobic and anaerobic microorganisms, their role in etiology of hard and soft tissues in oral cavity, create competence in evaluation of pathogenesis of oral diseases.

Skills

1.As a result of the study course, the student will be able to collect and examine clinical material in the oral cavity, will be able to isolate a pure culture, determine and analyze changes in the number of microorganisms in the oral cavity.

Competences

1.Combining theoretical knowledge with practical skills, students will be able to realise these skills in unitary integrative understanding about the importance of bacterial pathogenicity factors in the aetiology of oral diseases.
