1.The student will be able to: • explain the basic rules in reading and writing medical terms; • identify the Latin and Greek combining forms for new word formation; • name the Latin and Greek combining forms and their meanings; • interpret the rules of forming, explaining and using anatomical and clinical terms.
Skills
1.The student will be able to: • read and write the medical terms correctly; • identify Latin and Greek combining forms in clinical terms; • identify and classify anatomical and clinical terms; • form and explain anatomical and clinical terms; • translate the terms from English into Latin and vice versa.
Competences
1.On successful completion of the course, the student will be able to apply the acquired anatomical and clinical terms in academic and professional situations.

Introduction into the course. Latin alphabet, phonetics, accent.

Noun and its grammatical categories. Formation of Nom. pl. and Gen. pl. for the nouns of the 1st, 2nd, 4th and 5th declensions. (ASN)

Third declension nouns. Formation of Gen. sg., Nom. pl., Gen. pl. for the 3rd declension nouns. (ASN)

Structure of anatomical terms. Formation of terms containing two or three nouns (noun+noun +noun) (ASN)

Adjective and its division into two groups. Degrees of comparison of Adjective. Structure of anatomical terms – noun +adjective. Agreement of the adjective with the noun.

Formation of anatomical terms containing nouns and adjectives, their translation, analysis and declension.
