About Study Course

Objective

To promote the development of the competence of students in the application of the quantitative research methodology in solving problems in sports and health education.

Preliminary Knowledge

Learning Outcomes

Knowledge

1.1. Latest research in the field of pedagogy and sports and health education; 2. Approaches and principles of quantitative research in education and sports, health education. Procedures for the application of research methods, data acquisition and analysis.

Skills

1.3. To select the design of the qualitative study appropriate for solving the problem to be investigated and formulate the scientific categories of the study. 4. To argument the creation of a study sample and the choice of data acquisition methods. 5. To obtain data for research.

Competences

1.6. Able to independently process, analyse and evaluate the qualitative data obtained during the study, draw conclusions about them assessing their statistical credibility. Overall, able to demonstrate a scientific approach to the solution of research and practical problems.

Students’ independent learning is organised individually and/or in working groups. Students prepare independently for seminar classes; study and analyse scientific literature related to the topics of the course; develop and present independent work:  1. To carry out an evaluation of the problem of research in the selected topic in pedagogical, sports and health education. 2. To develop a quantitative research plan in the selected topic in pedagogy or sports and health education. 3. To discuss in a group the creation of a study sample and the choice of data acquisition methods. 4. To collect data, process collected data, analyse and evaluate results and draw conclusions. 5. To independently create a presentation and present and discuss the results of the research.
