About Study Course

Objective

To ensure acquisition and improvement of theoretical knowledge and practical skills in paediatric endocrinology. To acquire knowledge about the development of the endocrine system, its functions and physiology at different ages of the child. To ensure acquisition and improvement of theoretical knowledge and practical skills in paediatric endocrinology in accordance with the requirements of the paediatric endocrinologist specialty regulation in order to prepare the doctor for certification in the subspecialty of paediatric endocrinologist.

Learning Outcomes

Knowledge

1.After completing the study course, the medical resident will know the possible causes of endocrine gland dysfunctions, mechanisms of pathogenesis, endocrine gland interactions, clinical manifestations of endocrine diseases and their differences at different ages, laboratory and visual examination methods, indications thereof and interpretation of results, primary and secondary prevention and treatment of endocrine diseases.

Skills

1.As a result of completing the study course, medical residents will be able: - to independently assess children with endocrine pathology, independently implement an examination and treatment plan, - to use the most appropriate tests for the patient in the diagnosis of endocrine diseases at different ages, - to prepare the patient for various endocrine operations, - to provide qualified emergency care to children of different ages with acute endocrine diseases or acute complications of chronic diseases.

Competences

1.By combining theoretical knowledge with practical skills, the medical resident will have the opportunity to apply them in a single integrative understanding of the ability to communicate with patients – children of different ages, their relatives, collect the necessary information – anamnesis, acquire the skills to examine endocrinological patients of different ages, get acquainted with treatment schemes, prognostic indices, learn to draw up an examination plan, prescribe a care and treatment plan, using the acquired knowledge in the differential diagnosis of children’s endocrine pathologies. To analyse and interpret diagnostic data to make a correct diagnosis. To substantiate the need for the selected diagnostic tests and the chosen treatment plan. To logically formulate and explain the treatment objectives, evaluate treatment effectiveness, side effects.
