About Study Course

Objective

To ensure acquisition and improvement of theoretical knowledge and practical skills in oncology in accordance with the requirements of the haematology specialty regulation in order to prepare the doctor for certification in the haematology specialty.

Learning Outcomes

Knowledge

1.The medical resident will know the prevalence of oncological diseases in Latvia, the most frequently diagnosed oncological diseases. Will know the general principles of early diagnosis, screening and therapy of oncological diseases. Will know the methods used to treat oncological diseases, including new drugs.

Skills

1.Within the framework of the haematologist specialty, will be able to draw up an examination plan for a patient with suspected oncological disease. Will be able to explain to the patient the necessary screening examinations for specific tumour localisations.

Competences

1.To diagnose oncological diseases. Selection of treatment methods for certain oncological diseases. Drawing up a treatment plan.
