About Study Course
Objective
According to the chosen specialty , to promote students' ability to orient themselves in the pharmacotherapy of the most common chronic diseases and the most characteristic complaints during pregnancy and breastfeeding. To provide knowledge of the most characteristic side effects and contraindications, taking into account the choice of the method of administration. To ensure understanding of the possibilities of using medicines necessary for the course of childbirth and potential risks. To create an idea of the use of medicines in the pediatric population.
Preliminary Knowledge
In physiology, biochemistry, pharmacology, gynaecology and obstetrics, neonatology.
Learning Outcomes
Knowledge
1.Students will be able to describe the effect of medicines on the functions of organ systems, will be able to define the basic indications, most common side effects and contraindications.
2.Students are expected to gain knowledge about the medications used in termination of pregnancy, preservation of pregnancy and delivery, their realized effect, possible side effects and risks of administration.
3.Students will be able to describe the essence of the pregnancy prevention program.
Skills
1.Be able to classify medicines according to their use in chronic diagnoses, emergency situations or pregnancy-related situations.
2.Be able to describe the purpose and risks of regularly prescribed medicines during pregnancy and lactation.
3.Describe the basic principles of pharmacotherapy of indications related to termination of pregnancy, pregnancy and delivery.
4.Be able to differentiate the risks associated with the use and administration of medicines according to their severity.
5.Be able to calculate the dose to be administered according to the prescription.
6.Be able to evaluate the risks of teratogenicity and breast-feeding according to officially available information.
Competences
1.Be able to recommend medicines to alleviate complaints typical of pregnancy.
2.Be able to educate patients about the correct use of medicines, their indications and adverse effects.
3.Be able to explain the purpose and therapeutic effectiveness of medicines in terms understandable to the patient.
4.As a result of multidisciplinary cooperation, according to professional specifics, will be able to participate in the evaluation of pharmacotherapy and the introduction of corrections.
5.Will be able to analyse the medicines indicated in the anamnesis and orders according to the expected clinical effect, will be able to assess their therapeutic effectiveness and the development of side effects in the work environment.
6.Promote the reduction of the risk of medication errors and inappropriate prescription.

Analysis of the prescriptions received and fulfilled during the clinical practice according to the requirements of the report protocol (placed in E-studies). The form of submission of the work done (electronically or in paper format) is done by mutual agreement between the lecturer and the students. The protocol is submitted within the specified deadline before the individual interview. Submission of the protocol is mandatory. The independent work is evaluated with a test. |

At the end of the study course, on the scheduled dates, each student must have an individual interview with the lecturer, during which feedback is given on the course and an analysis of the independent work is carried out. The interview is a mandatory event, without which the student cannot obtain a positive final assessment in the course. |

The accumulated exam assessment is awarded in the study course regardless of the value obtained, but the condition of individual discussions with the course lecturer is mandatory. The final assessment is calculated as the average grade from both mid-semester examinations taken during the semester. |
