Preliminary Knowledge

Master’s level experience in research, information literacy.

Learning Outcomes

Knowledge

1.Define the conditions for the use of qualitative research in the relevant sector of science, understand the designs of the qualitative research, the methods of data collection and analysis, the principles for the sampling of the research participants and the possibilities for ensuring scientific rigour. Use qualitative research terminology, know the latest literature.

Skills

1.Select the qualitative research designs corresponding to their draft research, choose suitable data collection and analysis methods, evaluate the relevance of the read qualitative research to the requirements for academically correct scientific research. Critically evaluate the designs applied in the research examined, the types of data collection, processing and analysis, as well as the scientific rigour of the research.

Competences

1.Able to model opportunities or identify barriers to the use of qualitative research in the empirical study of their doctoral theses; able to critically evaluate the need of integrating qualitative research-related activities into their own research and professional activity.
