About Study Course

Objective

To ensure acquisition and improvement of theoretical knowledge and practical skills in psychosocial aspects of sports medicine: ethics, sports ethics, sports psychology and communication according to the requirements of sport medicine physicians’ specialty.

Learning Outcomes

Knowledge

1.Knowledge of the mutual relation of sports medicine as a multidisciplinary field of medicine and the field of sports ethics and sports psychology. Theoretical and practical knowledge of ethics of professional activity of a sports medicine physician and sports psychology.

Skills

1.Ability to reasonably select and apply the most suitable individual methods, as well as methods applied in team sports psychology, awareness of the actions to be taken in case of different prestart conditions.

Competences

1.Competence in solving different clinical cases, their diagnostics, etiopathogenesis, treatment, prevention and care.

Theoretical knowledge is acquired in 4 seminars and individual literature studies. During practical classes students control patients under the supervision of a physician eligible to provide such training, participate in assessment, examination and treatment of a patient. A medical acquires ethical principles, principles of sports ethics, psychological assessment methods of individual athletes and team players that are also applied in sports medicine practitioner’s practice.

At the end of the study course the head of the residency programme evaluates the acquired theoretical knowledge in written and oral form. The written test shall be assessed according to the 10-point grading system.
