About Study Course

Objective

Within the study course, the aim is to provide students with knowledge of the concepts of self-efficacy and self-regulation, to provide a practical opportunity to develop these skills and promote well-being by analyzing the relationship between behavior and the concepts of self-regulation and self-efficacy. As well as to develop competencies in the use of these concepts both in personal life and in later professional activity.

Assignment Title:

Enhancing Self-Efficacy and Self-Regulation in Medical Practice – Insights from RSU Research Week 2025

Objective:

To deepen students' understanding of self-efficacy and self-regulation principles in the context of medical and dental practice, by engaging with scientific discussions and applying learned concepts to professional scenarios.

Task Description:

Students are required to attend sessions during RSU Research Week 2025 that is relevant to topics of self-efficacy, self-regulation, mental health, or professional development. Based on the session, they will create a structured written report addressing how insights from the session can enhance their future practice as medical or dental professionals.

Assignment Requirements:

1.Session Attendance and Summary:

Attend one or more conference sessions related to self-efficacy, self-regulation, or mental health. Write a summary (300–400 words) including:

    • The session title and presenter(s).
    • Key topics covered and their relevance to healthcare professionals.

2.Reflection and Analysis (700–900 words):

    • Reflect on the session content and relate it to the theories of self-efficacy and self-regulation discussed during the course.
    • Analyze how the insights can be applied to challenges faced by medical and dental professionals, such as:
      • Managing stress and workload.
      • Improving communication with patients and colleagues.
      • Developing clinical decision-making skills under pressure.

    • Highlight specific strategies or tools presented during the session that can enhance professional practice.

Evaluation Criteria:

  • Clarity and completeness in summarizing the key points of the attended sessions – 3 points;
  • Depth of understanding, critical thinking, and ability to connect session insights with course concepts – 3 points;
  • Quality and structure of written work – 2 points;
  • Written work submitted within the specified deadline – 2 points.

Student individually develops a plan to improve psychological well-being and presents it in the final lesson. Evaluation criteria for the individual plan independently developed: 1. An assessment of the areas of individual life, a formulation of the problem area and the problem of one’s behaviour, a description of it, examining how it affects the psychological well-being of the individual – 1 point; 2. A clearly defined objective has been set to address the problem area - 1 point; 3. Describes steps toward the goal - 1 point; 4. Formulated result to be achieved – 1 point; 5. Optionally, one of the methods of self-regulation is described and self-reflection is given on the use of this technique – 2 points; 6. 2-4 sources of literature are used and appropriate references indicated in the text - 2 points; 7. The individual plan has been presented in the seminar – 2 points.

Evaluating the areas of individual life, the problem area and the problem of one's own behavior are formulated, its description is given, describing how it affects the individual's psychological well-being - 1 point. 2. A clearly defined goal is set for solving the problem area - 1 point. 3. Describe the steps towards the goal - 1 point. 4. The result to be achieved is formulated - 1 point. 5. Optionally, one of the self-regulation methods is described and self-reflection on the use of this technique is given - 2 points. 6. 2-4 literature sources are used and use of appropriate references - 2 points 7. Individual plan presented in the seminar - 2 points.
