About Study Course

Objective

To build knowledge and understanding of students of the Department of Welfare and Social Work about integration of information and communication technologies (ICT) in social work practice, recognising different ICT components.

Preliminary Knowledge

Learning Outcomes

Knowledge

1.After a successful completion of the study course, the student will be able: to describe the concept of information and communication technologies (ICT); to list and describe ICT components; to explain the importance of social media in social work; to describe the importance of confidentiality, privacy and data security; to characterise the provision of services to service users using ICT.

Skills

1.After a successful completion of the study course, the student will be able: to evaluate the possibilities of ICT integration in the provision of services; to describe examples of good practices in ICT integration into social work practice; to organise the provision of social services by integrating ICT.

Competences

1.Ability to use and evaluate the use of latest ICT applications in the social work and social welfare sector in line with clients’ needs. Ability to carry out analysis and interpretation of information responsibly.
