About Study Course

Objective

To familiarise students with scientific methodology in the fields of law and economic sciences to prepare specialists in resolution of legal and economic problems, taking decision corresponding to the head's competence in the field of economic activity and to be able to present them.

Preliminary Knowledge

Successful mastering of the study course and use of obtained knowledge, skills and competences requires experience in the drafting of research papers, the interpretation of legal norms and understanding of the role of research in the decision-making of the head of the organisation.

Learning Outcomes

Knowledge

1.As a result of completing the study course, the student is able to do the following: • to name and recognise the research design types in social sciences by integrating basic legal and economic science considerations; • to recognise and select scientifically reliable information, evaluating it critically, synthesising knowledge; • to define boundaries of the research; • to demonstrate in-depth knowledge in defining and describing problems; • to find appropriate methods for research and to describe their use in the research; • to understand the creative use of methods for the interpretation of research methods and legal norms in decision-making; • to define the basic elements of a discussion; • to define the purpose of the presentation to announce the decisions taken.

Skills

1.As a result of mastering the study course the student: • knows how to independently use the theory in identifying and resolving the problems of research; • knows how to select and use research methods independently; • is able to summarise information and is able to see relationships in legal and economic challenges; • is able to independently use the research methodology for decision-making in the field of economic security; • is able to interpret legal provisions and apply methods for the interpretation of legal norms to address any problem in matters of economic security, as well as is able to ensure the fulfilment of the requirements of regulatory requirements; • is able to use research methods for reasoning; • is able to discuss difficult problems in economic security; • is able to critically evaluate arguments and create counter-arguments; • is able to plan independently further professional development; • is able to independently advance the development of own presentation skills.

Competences

1.As a result of mastering the study course the student: • is able to be aware of the importance of research elements and their need for decision-making; • is able to independently formulate and critically analyse complex scientific and professional problems, justify the decisions taken; • is able to integrate different knowledge and skills on the research methodology in order to propose solutions for problems and make reasoned decisions in order to introduce innovative solutions to achieve the objectives of the organisation; • is able to analyse the progress of solution of the organisation and to introduce adjustments; • is able use the knowledge and skills acquired to be used in everyday working situations in order to make reasoned decisions and to be able to present them; • is able to prepare a research and present its results.

Assessment

Individual work

-
-
Analysis of literature; drafting of lecture notes and summaries; preparation of a presentation; independent development of research methodology in law and in an interdisciplinary research; role play – casus play, which will demonstrate decision-making and argumentation skills. Individual, pair and group works are planned in the study course. Homework preparation: Students work with any practical problem of their choice / situations, preparing a situational description in e-studies. The group prepares a joint presentation as an examination paper to show a solution to the problem / situation solutions and decision-making. During examination there is group presentation, discussion on adopted decisions and their evaluation. The situation description should include the following matters: 1) justification of the design selection; 2) problem description from the interdisciplinary aspects; 3) determination of research boundaries in the interdisciplinary sector; 4) selected sources for problem solution / decision-making; 5) conditions of methods used in processing of sources; 6) problem solution or decision.
