About Study Course

Objective

Promote the acquisition of knowledge of the mechanisms of action of pharmacological groups of medicinal products and their possibilities for use in the event of diseases. Promote awareness of rational pharmacotherapy to achieve preventive and therapeutic objectives. Promote the acquisition of knowledge of drug interactions, side effects and significant contraindications under polypharmacy conditions.

Preliminary Knowledge

Pharmacology, physiology, pharmacognosia, pharmaceutical chemistry, medical chemistry.

Learning Outcomes

Knowledge

1.Will be able to identify medicines indications, contraindications depending on the presence of symptoms and diseases.

2.Will be able to assess the most common side effects and possible interactions depending on the treatment received at the same time.

3.Will be able to advise on safe and correct use of medicines.

4.Will gain knowledge of the proper and safe provision of the vaccination process, wound care.

Skills

1.Select and use the most appropriate medicines in specific clinical situations.

2.Characterise the mechanism of action of the medicines, indications, contraindications, common side effects.

3.Assess the risk of interaction both from other co-administered medicines and from ingested nutritional racion.

4.Carry out the vaccination process.

5.Advise on self-monitoring in patients with chronic diseases.

Competences

1.Will be able to analyse the available information on the medicines, its safe use in the case of the particular disease.

2.Will be able to recommend the optimal medication regimen during pharmaceutical care based on dose, interaction and impact of interpersonal variability.

3.Will be taught to apply knowledge of medicinal products within the framework of therapeutic monitoring of chronic diseases.

4.Will be able to explain in a language comprehensible to the patient the purpose of the use of the medicinal product, the expected benefit.

5.Inform about the role of vaccination in promoting public health.

6.Will be able to explain the role of self-control in controlling chronic diseases.
