About Study Course

Objective

To create an opportunity for master students to observe art therapy sessions in different work environments, to observe them and analyze the structure of the session, the process and result of art therapy, to develop self-reflection, the ability to express their feelings and attitudes, to update therapeutic values. By observing and hospitalizing art therapy in different specializations and different work environments and under the supervision of a teacher analyzing the art therapy process, to form an understanding of the diversity and opportunities of professional activity, the importance of supervision in professional development and professional competence.

Learning Outcomes

Knowledge

1.Students will be able to name, compare therapeutic relationship models and the basic principles of art therapy process in different work environments and team work. Characterise the session's tripartite structure, name a safe therapeutic environment characteristics. Explain chosen approach (directive/ undirective), evaluation/ assessment tools and interventions. Describe the patient's choice of art resources, patient reflection on the creative process and outcome. Characterise art therapist role as a member of multidisciplinary team.

Skills

1.Students will be able to analyse structure of the art therapy session and compare approaches (directive/ undirect). Apply theoretical knowledge to critically evaluate used art therapist methods, evaluation/ assessment tools and intervention. Compare and explain the art therapist specifics (individual and as a member of a multidisciplinary team). Analyse the patient's non-verbal communication in the art therapy context, observe the patient's mental state. Compare the different customers'/ patients' group reflection on the creative process and its outcomes.

Competences

1.Students will be able to explain significance of safe therapeutic environment, analyse and compare the therapeutic relationship models within the art therapy sessions and explain used methods in the particular case (direct/ undirect). Explain art tools, properties and choice of therapeutic contact signs used in sessions. Supervision importance in professional development. Demonstrate a presentation about art therapist working specifics in different work environments (individual and as a member of a multidisciplinary team). Evaluate and explain professional competence. Perform self-reflection.
