About Study Course

Objective

To educate the student according to the competences provided for in the teacher’s standard and the content requirements of the Health and Physical Activity Education standard in the section “Physical activity is a prerequisite for good physical and mental health”. To provide students a scientific basis for teaching, explaining and justifying health promoting physical activity to pupils of different grades on the selection, proportioning and control of health promoting physical exercises in accordance with physical fitness and objectives of lessons.

Preliminary Knowledge

Knowledge of pedagogical process planning, principles of teaching and education, educational psychology, human anatomy, motion biomechanics, ergonomics, occupational and environmental safety, principles of sustainable development, organisation of the activities of educational institutions and basic principles of entrepreneurship.

Skills to plan, organise and manage the learning process, to select and apply appropriate learning methods, to analyse and improve movement performance, to ensure a safe learning environment, to assess students’ performance, to collaborate with stakeholders and to use problem solving approaches in professional activities.

Competences to independently take professional decisions, integrate theoretical knowledge into practice, adapt pedagogical activity to different needs of learners, take responsibility for the quality of the learning process, evaluate the results of professional activity and improve their professional competence.

1.Explains the importance of physical exercise for health promotion, disease prevention and physical fitness development by describing the principles of load volume, intensity and dosing for different target groups.

2.Describe and analyse the physical activity recommendations of the World Health Organisation and other international organisations, as well as the effects of regular physical activity on the body’s functional systems, cognitive abilities and energy consumption.

3.Is familiar with the possibilities of digital technologies in physical activity monitoring and load control, as well as the basic principles of assessment of general physical fitness and load planning of children of different ages in accordance with physical capacity and development specificities.

1.Independently plan, adapt and manage the preparation of people of different ages for physical activity, selecting warm-up and conditioning exercises appropriate to age, fitness level and workload to be performed, taking into account the principles of safety and health promotion.

2.Select, use and evaluate digital technologies for the planning, recording and control of physical activity by analysing physical load, energy consumption and basic metabolism indicators in order to justify decisions on the organisation of physical activity.

3.Practical use and teaching of digital technologies in physical activity monitoring and analysis, demonstrating work with mobile applications, pulsometers, fitness bracelets, GPS devices and other digital solutions, as well as interpreting the acquired data for physical activity improvement.

Description of the theoretical literature on the role and application of physical exercise in promoting health

:

Within the framework of his or her own work, the student acquaints himself or herself with scientific and professional literature in scientific databases regarding the role of physical exercise in promoting health and preventing diseases. Within the scope of the work, the mechanisms of influence of physical exercise on the human body, their role in different age groups and populations, as well as recommendations of physical activity for maintaining health shall be analysed. The student shall collect and critically evaluate the acquired information by formulating conclusions regarding the application of physical exercises in promoting health.

Fulfilment conditions:

  • study at least 5 reliable sources of scientific and professional literature (publications from the last 10 years are recommended);
  • describes the importance of physical exercise for health promotion and disease prevention;
  • analyse the effects of physical exercise on the human body on the basis of scientific literature;
  • summarise the main health recommendations for physical activity;
  • prepare a written report (pages 2-4) and a presentation with conclusions and a correctly designed list of the literature used in accordance with the APA quoting style.

Evaluation criteria:

  • relevance and quality of the literature sources used;
  • understanding of theoretical content and quality of analysis;
  • ability to critically collect and interpret information provided in scientific literature;
  • justification of the conclusions and consistency with the analysed literature;
  • the logical structure of the work, the quality of academic writing and correct referencing.

Rating scale: The credited

work complies with the specified performance conditions, appropriate sources of scientific literature have been used, the content is analytical, conclusions are justified and the work has been drawn up in accordance with the requirements of the design of the academic work.

“A programme of sports and health classes and the content of classes for children of different ages for independent health-promoting classes.”

Job description:

Within the scope of his or her independent work, the student shall develop a programme of sports and health classes and detailed content of classes for children of different ages, intended for independent health-promoting physical activities. The work should take into account the specific characteristics of the ageing phase of children, the principles of physical development and health promotion, safety requirements and the diversity and suitability of physical activities. The programme developed should promote the regular physical activity of children, the development of healthy lifestyle habits and the motivation to engage in physical activity independently.

The conditions of performance

  • shall establish a programme of sports and health classes for at least two different age groups of children;
  • at least 3 descriptions of independent classes shall be drawn up for each age group, indicating the purpose of the class, the results to be achieved, the necessary inventory (if applicable), the structure of the class and a description of the tasks;
  • for each exercise, the load dose (e.g. duration of the run or number of repetitions) as well as the safety conditions shall be indicated;
  • justify the conformity of the selected physical activity with the development characteristics and health promotion objectives of the particular age group;
  • include a list of the literature and sources of information used, drawn up in accordance with the design requirements.

Evaluation criteria:

  • the relevance of the programme to the terms of reference and the specific characteristics of the age of the children;
  • the methodological utility, logic and practical application of the content of the classes;
  • respect for the principles of health promotion and safety;
  • validity of load dosing and exercise selection;
  • work structure, design and quality of sources used and correct design.

Rating scale: The work credited

has been developed in full compliance with the performance conditions, complies with the requirements set, the programme is methodically justified, the content of the classes is qualitative and workable, safety requirements have been complied with and scientific information sources have been correctly presented.

A written examination on theoretical issues and a knowledge test

job description:

In the written examination, the student shall demonstrate theoretical knowledge and understanding of the topics acquired in the study course. The examination shall answer theoretical questions and knowledge test questions in which the corresponding answer options shall be noted.

Fulfilment conditions:

  • answers the theoretical questions of the examination in writing.
  • completes the knowledge test by selecting and marking the correct choice of answers.
  • The work shall be carried out independently in accordance with the principles of academic integrity.
  • observe the time limit and instructions specified for the examination.

Evaluation criteria:

  • accuracy and comprehensiveness of theoretical knowledge:
  • interpretation and correct application of basic concepts of the study course.
  • number of correctly selected answers in the knowledge test.
  • logic, validity and relevance of the answers provided to the questions asked.

Grading scale: a 10-point scale

is counted if the student has demonstrated sufficient theoretical knowledge and has reached the specified minimum level of requirements (at least 51% correct answers).

The final assessment of the study course is determined by the average assessment of presentations of permanent work in 25%, sports and health programmes in 25%, theoretical questions of the examination in 25% and answers in the test in 25%.
