About Study Course

Objective

To obtain theoretical and practical skills in basics of clinical care.

The study course applies a cumulative assessment based on the student's semester-long test scores, class attendance, and colloquium grade.

The following assessment methods are used to evaluate students' knowledge and skills:

  • Tests during classes – 40% of the final assessment. Tests are graded on a 10-point scale. The average test score is taken into account in the final assessment calculation.
  • Class attendance – 10% of the final assessment. Attendance is graded as follows:
    • 100% class attendance – 10 points;
    • one class missed due to illness – 5 points;
    • more than one class missed due to illness – 0 points.
  • Colloquium – 50% of the final assessment. The colloquium is based on the practical execution of clinical skills and is graded on a 10-point scale. The points obtained are summed up in the evaluation of the execution of clinical skills:
    • correct answer or correctly performed action – 2 points;
    • partially correct answer or partially correctly performed action – 1 point;
    • incorrect answer or incorrectly performed action – 0 points.

Calculation of the cumulative final assessment

The final assessment of the study course is cumulative and is calculated by summing up the weighted contribution of each assessment component:

Final assessment = (average test score × 0.40) + (attendance grade × 0.10) + (colloquium grade × 0.50).

The cumulative final assessment is expressed on a 10-point scale. It reflects the student's achievements throughout the entire study course, including the verification of theoretical knowledge, participation in classes, and the evaluation of the practical acquisition of clinical skills.

The basic requirements of hygienic and anti-epidemic regimen in a medical treatment institution shall prescribe to prevent the spread of infectious diseases in a medical treatment institution. The essential requirements shall be established in accordance with the precautionary principle that any patient may be the vector of an infectious disease and its organs, tissues, biological fluids and sediments directly or indirectly spread live infectious disease agents in an environment which is therefore likely to be contaminated.

Description

The course covers the basic principles of desmurgy, types of dressings, indications for their use, and techniques for applying them. The course covers dressing materials, classification of dressings, and selection of dressings according to anatomical location and clinical situation. In the practical part of the course, students learn and practice techniques for applying various bandage dressings, paying attention to proper positioning of the limb, fixation of the dressing, patient comfort, and preservation of blood circulation. Common errors in dressing application and possible complications are analyzed.

The lecture covers the basic principles of drug administration and conditions for safe drug use. Students are introduced to drug forms, routes of administration and their selection according to the patient's condition and prescribed therapy. The stages of drug preparation, dose verification and administration, patient identification, evaluation of allergies and contraindications, as well as monitoring of drug action and possible adverse reactions are analyzed. Special attention is paid to the principles of safe drug administration, prevention of medication errors, infection control requirements, drug storage and documentation. The professional responsibility of the healthcare specialist and patient education on safe and correct drug use are discussed.
