About Study Course

Objective

The aim of the course is to acquire practical skills in the development of scientific work, expanding and systematising theoretical and practical knowledge, acquiring the ability to apply it in the research of the chosen topic, formulation of problems, elaboration of reasoned conclusions and proposals. The course develops the ability to conduct independent research work under the supervision of a scientific supervisor.

Preliminary Knowledge

Knowledge of the study courses implemented in the study programme. Students need knowledge of research methodology and methods, setting of basic research tasks and course planning, theories related to the selected research topic, creating bibliography.

Learning Outcomes

Knowledge

1.During the elaboration of the Master’s thesis, students improve their knowledge about the research design, research methodology and methods, as well as questions related to the chosen topic of the Master’s thesis.

Skills

1.Students acquire the skills to conduct a permanent scientific study, to collaborate with the scientific supervisor, to choose methods of scientific and empirical analysis, to discuss issues and results of the study in a reasoned manner.

2.As part of the pre-defence and defence of the Master thesis, students shall supplement their presentation skills.

Competences

1.During the development and defence of Master’s thesis, students acquire the competence to practically apply theoretical, practical and methodological knowledge for the performance of a scientific study, are able to perform theoretical and practical research, to interpret the results obtained.

2.Students shall supplement their competence on issues related to the topic of the study.

Master's Thesis Development

The development of a master's thesis is possible after a successful completion of master's thesis development methodological seminar and the defense of the topic application (the topic has been selected and the scientific supervisor of the thesis has been approved). It takes place in stages, according to the deadlines developed by the Faculty of Social Sciences and includes:

1) Submission of the first version of the master's thesis;

2) Pre-defense of the master's thesis;

3) Submission of the final version of the master's thesis;

4) Defense of the master's thesis.

During the development of the master's thesis, students analyze and summarize theoretical and empirical literature and information sources relevant to the topic, conduct qualitative and/or quantitative research, summarize the research results and develop proposals.
