About Study Course

Objective

To provide students with the necessary knowledge and skills in the qualification of criminal offenses.

Learning Outcomes

Knowledge

1.Students are able to demonstrate the basic and specialised knowledge acquired during the course and a critical understanding of this knowledge.

Skills

1.Students gain skills in analysing and evaluating the compliance of factual circumstances with the objective and subjective attributes of a criminal offense under the Criminal Law. Communication skills - to communicate with other students of the Bachelor’s study programme on criminal law issues, to demonstrate social skills and emotional intelligence, skills to present, justify and defend one’s point of view. Guidance towards further learning skills - students structure their own learning independently, analyse their level of knowledge and rationally improve it, select and evaluate sources of literature, relevant case law. Other general skills - students take responsibility for their decisions and actions; make critically evaluated decisions and find solutions in unforeseen and changing circumstances; adapt to new situations and are open to change; take leadership and initiative and bear the consequences; comply with ethical standards, demonstrate broad general knowledge and competences.

Competences

1.Students apply knowledge to distinguish between offenses provided for in the Criminal Law and other offenses, qualify the situation according to the established factual circumstances; classify the offense according to additional evidence obtained.

By the end of the twelfth class, the student shall submit a timely report prepared in accordance with the regulations of RSU Faculty of Law on a topic proposed by the lecturer. The student submits an independently elaborated paper – case analysis according to the topic of the third class. The student submits an independently elaborated paper – case analysis according to the topic of the sixth class. In order to evaluate the quality of the study course as a whole, the student must fill out the study course evaluation questionnaire on the Student Portal.

The final grade is the sum of all grades. Knowledge shall be assessed using the 10-point grading system: 1. attendance of lectures and seminars, participation and quality of answers in seminars, written analysis of independent assignments: 25%; 2. individual project or report: 25%; 3. exam grade: 50%.
