About Study Course

Objective

To enhance the ability to develop and manage recreational event content using intangible cultural heritage, natural, and anthropogenic resources.

Preliminary Knowledge

In the professional Bachelor’s programme of sports science, students need knowledge of human functioning, in the field of pedagogy and psychology, which gives students the opportunity to understand the activities to be performed from both anatomical physiological and pedagogical psychological points of view. Knowledge of English is required at a sufficient level to read industry literature and guide course terminology in English.

Analysis of intangible cultural heritage - in the context of Latvian traditions

Test

Students describe and analyse the nature and opportunities of intangible cultural heritage in promoting the economy - attracting customers and tourists.

It is necessary to describe at least 3 different annual traditions in Latvian culture and how to adapt them in the creation of recreational activities and events. To offer at least 5 different recreational activities for each Latvian tradition, the basis of which is the intangible cultural heritage of Latvians with a customized offer or variants thereof. At the same time, when designing the progress, rules and purpose for which it has been created. The total for the report is 10 to 12 pages.

Active participation in seminars, work of individual groups:

+) individually and in teams to draw up plans, discuss and present the use of intangible cultural heritage and Latvian annual traditions in recreational activities

+) development of recreational activities and organisation of course events at Easter - incorporating into the context of intangible cultural heritage and popular traditions

+) exploration of anthropogenic resources in Latvia, Baltic territories, analysis and adaptation of offers to the local market - to the consumer

Arranging and conducting of recreational events of Latvian traditions - cultural intangible heritage

Test

Students organise and manage recreational activities of the Easter event in the open air (possible: open-air museum):

+) co-ordinate the course of the event and activities with responsible institutions

+) prepare the necessary inventory for the performance of activities

+) prepare the scenario and implement it in appropriate costumes, if necessary

+) drawing up and analysing feedback

  1. Students pull out one of the tickets where:

+) various Latvian annual events, in the context of intangible cultural heritage

+) the target audience, children, adults, seniors, etc.

+) the stage of the event

the student shall contemplate - recreational activities, which are then described in untimely instructions regarding regulations and progress of execution. Time given to develop activities 60 min.

  1. The student receives a test sheet with a theoretical test to be filled in, giving 15 questions (determining the correct or correct answers, as well as making an entry in the empty columns. Test run time 15 min.
