About Study Course

Objective

To ensure the acquisition and improvement of theoretical knowledge and practical skills, in accordance with laws and regulations of the Republic of Latvia, in order to prepare the doctor for certification in the specialty of paediatric nephrologist.

Learning Outcomes

Knowledge

1.Able to demonstrate knowledge of the pathophysiology, clinical manifestations, laboratory, histological and radiological diagnosis, differential diagnosis of kidney and urinary tract diseases, treatment thereof at the hospital and during the pre-hospital stage.

Skills

1.To assess the risks of kidney damage; analyse histological preparations of kidneys and interpret the results; perform diagnostic and therapeutic manipulations necessary in the management of uronephrology patients; choose and perform appropriate renal replacement therapy for patients with impaired renal function.

Competences

1.Using knowledge about kidney pathophysiology, kidney diseases, disease origin, symptomatology, link to diseases of other organs, treatment, peritoneal dialysis, as well as modern practical actions for kidney disease patients resulting from this knowledge. To perform diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation and prevention of kidney diseases.
