About Study Course

Objective

Develop the theoretical knowledge and practical skills of students in the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of oral and periodontal diseases, promoting the ability to apply minimally invasive therapy methods, cooperate with a Periodontologist in complex patient care.

Preliminary Knowledge

Prerequisites are required in anatomy and physiology, histology, microbiology and prevention of oral diseases, as well as practical skills in preclinical and clinical settings.

Knowledge

1.Will know the latest classification of periodontal and periimplant tissue diseases

2.Outline the root causes and contributing factors of dental support tissue disease

3.Ability to explain pathogenesis of periodontal diseases

1.Ability to conduct a full periodontal investigation and interpret the findings

3.Ability to eliminate bacterial biofilm on tooth crown and root surfaces using minimally invasive techniques

4.Perform supragingual and subgingual (up to 5 mm in pockets) instrumentation using specialized instruments

5.Ability to cooperate with the Periodontologist during the maintenance phase by providing coordinated treatment to the patient

6.Ability to assess the need for antibacterial therapy and to prescribe it according to their competencies or in cooperation with a specialist

7.Motivate and teach patients for appropriate individual oral care
