About Study Course
Objective
The aim of the study course is to develop the students' ability to orientate in the administrative law regulation, to analyse public legal relations and to apply administrative law norms and principles in typical legal situations.
Preliminary Knowledge
Legal Theory; History of Latvian Law; Records Management.

The student individually finds a specific case in the press, internet news portals, social networks or other publicly available information source, in which a natural or legal person is dealing with a matter related to a state or local government institution and the relevant legal relationship is attributable to the field of public law and administrative law. The student briefly describes the chosen situation, identifies the persons and institution involved, determines the nature of the legal relationship and justifies why the specific case is to be considered in the context of administrative law and public law. The student indicates the applicable legal norms or principles of administrative law and formulates his or her legal conclusion on the specific situation. The work must include a reference to the publicly available information source used. The work must be formatted in accordance with the RSU Faculty of Social Sciences methodological regulations for students of bachelor's study programmes "Student's Handbook". |

The student solves a practical administrative legal case, identifies the applicable legal norms and principles of administrative law, applies them to the specific factual circumstances and formulates a legally justified conclusion. Evaluation criteria:

4.
Administrative-legal resolution of the situation in the group |
10.00% from total grade

Test

|
Students in a group analyse an administrative legal situation offered by the lecturer, identify the legal problem, the applicable legal norms and principles of administrative law, evaluate possible legal solutions and prepare an argued joint solution. The group presents the solution and justifies its legal position by answering questions from the lecturer and other students. Assessment criteria: identification of the legal problem; choice of applicable legal norms and principles; correctness of the application of the norms; legal justification of the proposed solution; quality of argumentation; ability to justify the group's chosen solution in a discussion. |
