About Study Course

Objective

Provide theoretical knowledge and practical skills for radiological diagnosis and endovascular treatment of ischemic stroke.

Learning Outcomes

Knowledge

1.On successful completion of this course, residents will know the difference between strokes in the anterior and posterior territory, the most commonly used classifications (NIHSS; MRS, ASPECT). Residents are familiar with the indications and contraindications of mechanical thrombectomy, TICI score, factors influencing initiation of treatment (time window, radiological finding), major medications used (aspirin, clopidogrel, glycoprotein IIb / IIIa inhibitors), angiographic picture discrepancy. Residents are familiar with the materials and devices required for transarterial thrombectomy (eg, guiding catheters, microcatheters, microstats, stent-retrievers, etc.), as well as the possible complications of invasive treatment (dissection, perforation, thrombus breakdown) and their treatment.

Skills

1.Perform mechanical thrombectomy with various techniques.

Competences

1.On successful completion of the course, the resident will be able to apply the acquired theoretical knowledge and practical skills in the diagnosis and treatment of ischemic stroke, will be aware of possible complications, will be able to diagnose and treat them early.
