About Study Course

Objective

Provide students with theoretical knowledge and practical skills on periodont construction, disease aetiology, diagnosis and treatment, as well as develop clinical skills in the application of instruments and patient care in periodontology.

Preliminary Knowledge

Students must have knowledge in oral anatomy, physiology, histology, microbiology and prevention of oral diseases.

Learning Outcomes

Knowledge

1.Is familiar with the anatomical and histological structure of the periodont.

2.Understand the aetiology, pathogenesis and contributing factors (local and systemic) of periodont diseases.

Skills

1.Perform a clinical examination, probing and collection of a history of periodont.

2.Use a variety of instruments (probes, curettes, sickens, skateilers) on models and patients.

3.Remove the tartar and polish the teeth in various oral sections.

1.Demonstrate the ability to independently and safely perform periodont examination and treatment in a clinical setting.
