About Study Course

Objective

To discover and analyse the link of the knowledge acquired during the study with the practical work of a dental hygienist in oral health education and promotion.

Learning Outcomes

Knowledge

1.Will know the five action areas from Ottawa Chapter, definitions of oral health promotion and education. Will know the oral health education programmes introduced in Latvia and other countries for children and young people till 18 and its efectivenes.

Skills

1.Ability to use principles, appraches of oral health promotion, education and use them working out their own educational lectures. Ability to educate dental patients and population in age groups till 18 and their parents. To develop ability to cooperate with different age groups of patients, population. Developing skills to participate in the planning, organization and evaluation of different oral health preventive programmes together with specialists in various areas (in educational, medical institutions).

Competences

1.Evaluate principles, approaches of oral health promotion and education. c preventive programmes and strategies opposite to treatment regimen in dentistry.
