About Study Course

Objective

To ensure the acquisition and improvement of theoretical knowledge and practical skills in general surgery, in accordance with the requirements of the regulations of the urology specialty, in order to prepare the doctor for certification in the urology specialty, in accordance with the regulatory documents of the Republic of Latvia.

Learning Outcomes

Knowledge

1.• Define the etiology, pathogenesis, symptoms, diagnosis, indications for conservative and surgical treatment of surgical diseases; • Name the diagnostic methods and instruments used in surgery; • To explain the peculiarities of management of the postoperative period.

Skills

1.• Can correctly assess the patient's general condition. • Can adequately examine a patient with surgical pathology. • Can perform appendectomy. • Can perform abdominal drainage

Competences

1.Acquires theoretical knowledge about the etiology, pathogenesis, symptoms, diagnosis, indications for conservative and surgical treatment of acute surgical diseases, diagnostic methods and instruments used in surgery, ensuring the patient's postoperative period, Surgical skills and operations.
