About Study Course

Objective

To acquire knowledge about the basic principles of building therapeutic relationships, to promote the development of basic skills to use therapeutic communication, realizing individual-centered care.

Preliminary Knowledge

Psycho-social needs, Social psychology, Communication in health care, Transcultural care, Health care philosophy, Psychosomatic medicine, Stress management.

Learning Outcomes

Knowledge

1.As a result of learning the study course, students are able to demonstrate knowledge of the basic principles of successful communication, the use of the conditions of the biopsychosocial model in contact with patients, the conditions for creating a therapeutic relationship and a therapeutic environment.

Skills

1.As a result of learning the study course, students are able to explain the patient's needs in communication, analyze and evaluate stress-related situations in patient care and develop an appropriate patient-centered relationship model.

Competences

1.As a result of learning the study course, students are able to combine theory and methods, analyzing the patient as a personality, assessing his needs in communication and generating the conditions for managing a therapeutic relationship.

Students prepare and present communication model for one clinical care situation, independently analyze the patient's needs and develop a therapeutic relationship plan (for one situation), prepare and presents an overview of the research carried out in relation to communication in health care. The course is considered mastered if the student has participated in the lectures and learned the teaching material of the lessons -10%, has completed the learning tasks during the lessons - 20% (the completed tasks have been counted), has obtained positive intermediate evaluations (research selection, analysis and presentation - 30%; Analysis and presentation of the clinical situation - 40%).
