About Study Course

Objective

To ensure the acquisition and improvement of theoretical knowledge and practical skills, in accordance with laws and regulations of the Republic of Latvia, in order to prepare the doctor for certification in the specialty of paediatric nephrologist.

Learning Outcomes

Knowledge

1.Able to demonstrate knowledge of hemodialysis procedure, indications, complications, patient control and treatment.

Skills

1.To insert CVC, set up hemodialysis equipment, connect and disconnect the patient, manage the dialysis session, control the effectiveness of dialysis, prevent dialysis complications.

Competences

1.Using the knowledge of kidney pathophysiology, the origin of chronic end-stage renal disease, symptomatology, complications, treatment, hemodialysis procedure, as well as the modern practical actions for dialysis patients resulting from this knowledge, diagnose end-stage kidney disease, treat it, organise patient rehabilitation and prevent complications.
