About Study Course

Objective

The purpose of the rotation of placement is to consolidate and strengthen the previous theoretical knowledge and practical skills of students acquired during different years of study within RSU study programme ’Medicine’ in order to prepare students for further practical work of a doctor. Rotation of placement is a practical format for the organisation of medical studies integrating into medical teams.

Learning Outcomes

Knowledge

1.As a result of the completion of the study course, the student will have acquired knowledge and will be able to analyse and understand clinical, laboratory and visual examination methods of patients of different profiles. Will have acquired knowledge of the principles of emergency care in different situations. Will know and recognise the symptoms and operating algorithms of various diseases – examination and treatment tactics, know to recommend evidence-based recommendations, know to apply critical thinking and synthesize knowledge.

Skills

1.Will be able to collect a history, perform patient examination, physical examination, prescribe diagnostic examinations and therapy, diagnose the patient, educate the patient on health and disease prevention issues, provide emergency care, design medical documentation, use information and communication technologies, adhere to general and professional ethics, organize their work and teamwork.

Competences

1.The competences acquired by the study course will allow a targeted and structured examination of the patient’s history, allow linking of the different components and symptoms of pathological processes that affect it, allow assessment of the patient’s state of health, interpretation of compliance with and deviation from the norm, and attribution of the finding and the specific situation, and a decision on further action tactics. Will allow recognition of acute medical conditions, organise timely delivery of assistance, allow interpretation of the results of various examinations and formulate the appropriate conclusion, plan treatment tactics. The acquired competences will allow the manipulation corresponding to the relevant pathological condition to be performed, the medical documentation to be completed in accordance with the requirements of regulatory enactments.

The overall assessment of the placement study consists of the characterisation of the student from the placement workplace, as well as the assessment of the counting Commission after discussions with the student, which also includes an analysis of the rotation situation of the prepared one clinical case from the placement, in which the student would have behaved differently from what was done in a particular situation. The knowledge and skills of the student shall be considered successful if they comply with the assessment “credited”. Placement counting can be sorted twice.
