About Study Course

Objective

To encourage students to acquire the necessary knowledge about the exercises to be used in fitness classes and different types of fitness classes.

Preliminary Knowledge

Prerequisites for physical activity are recommended, but may also be acquired during the learning process.

Learning Outcomes

Knowledge

1.As a result of the study course acquisition students will be able to: • tell about the different types of health-promoting fitness; • list and classify health gymnastics; • define concepts – Aerobics, Step Aerobics, Callanetics, Pilates, Yoga, Body Art, Fitball, Nordic Walking, etc.; • describe the structure of the fitness class; • describe the workout load for each of the fitness types offered; • tell about the specifics of the types of physical activity in seniors and pregnant women; • outline the levels of Nordic walking; • describe the parameters of Nordic walking equipment.

Skills

1.As a result of the study course students will be able to: • exercise strength, balance, stretch flexibility and endurance in a variety of fitness classes; • use big gym balls, balance surfaces, small gym balls, sticks, dumbbells, etc. equipment used in fitness classes; • vary exercise levels in different types of fitness classes; • choose appropriate equipment for different levels of Nordic walking and weather conditions; • use specific exercises with sticks in the introductory and final parts of the lesson; • determine their own heart rate.

Competences

1.Using the acquired knowledge and skills, students will be able to evaluate the use of different types of fitness to improve their health and fitness.

During the course, students independently improve their physical fitness by writing a diary that reflects: • the date (date) of your training; • duration of classes; • a brief description of the lesson; • heart rate during exercise (beginning, mid-training, and ending).

Course test, assessment of students' participation in practical classes, attendance of practical classes (50%), written test at the end of the course (25%) and preparation and presentation of their training diary (25%).
