About Study Course

Objective

To provide the student with the necessary knowledge and practical skills about patient care at the level of primary health care in a family doctor's practice, basic principles of pediatric care, as well as chronic patient care and its follow-up, various disease prevention, health promotion, public health measures.

Preliminary Knowledge

Anatomy and physiology, pathological physiology, clinical pharmacology and drug treatment, transcultural patient care, general care, propaedeutics, internal diseases, pediatrics, public health and care process.

Learning Outcomes

Knowledge

1.Student will acquire knowledge of health care principles in primary care and regulatory framework, public involvement in promoting a healthy environment, performance of disease prevention in a GP practice.

2.Student will acquire knowledge of compliance with the principles of healthy lifestyle at different stages of the child’s age, injury prevention, as well as the physiology of breastfeeding and the performance thereof, the performance of neonatal care in a GP practice and regulatory framework

6.Student will acquire knowledge of the principles of vaccination, the regulatory framework and the performance of vaccination in children and adults, the importance of the vaccination calendar.

7.Student will acquire knowledge of ensuring long-term care of chronic disease patients and regulatory frameworks, motivation building, prevention of chronic disease complications.

Skills

1.Student will be able to assess and promote physical, psychomotor, cognitive and social development of the child during different age periods.

2.Student will be able to recognise abnormal changes, explain to the child and family or legal representatives the aims of medication therapy, predict potential side effects related to the use of drug substances, evaluate the effects and doses of drug substances.

3.Student will be able to promote the basic principles of healthy eating and identify catering problems during different periods of the child’s age.

4.The student will be able to provide effective information to a child with health problems and his or her family or legal representatives, using appropriate methods according to the age of the child, to perform education of the child and his or her family or legal representatives regarding healthy lifestyle and health promotion, prevention of injury and disease risks.

5.Student will be able to perform neonatal care, recognise health risks and complications, provide psychoemotional support to a woman after pregnancy termination and pregnancy termination, promote involvement of co-workers (support persons, family, legal representatives), conduct family or legal representative/individual education in the context of maternal and child health/reproductive health, understand basic principles of maternal and child health care policy.

6.The student will be able to assess the most characteristic symptoms of chronic diseases, will be familiar with the necessary diagnostic methods and diagnostic criteria, as well as will be familiar with the principles of treatment and care, will be able to understand complementary and alternative medical and creative therapy methods in the treatment of chronic diseases and patient care and promote the necessary interdisciplinary co-operation in the care of patients with chronic diseases.

7.The student will be able to assist the patient in acquiring the knowledge, skills and skills necessary for self-care, applying teaching methods and teaching materials in patient education, evaluating the results of care of patients in chronic care, providing emotional support to patients with chronic diseases, ensuring continuity and sustainability of care activities for patients with chronic diseases.

8.Student will be able to identify health, psychosocial and economic risks in individual environment and family of the individual, including legal representatives, to assess the health and physical and psychosocial problems of the individual, plan and implement health promotion and disease prevention.

9.Student will be able to use teaching and coaching methods to educate the individual, be familiar with screening investigation methods.

10.Student will be able to know and administer the vaccination process.

11.The student will be able to implement long-term co-operation with the individual and his or her family or legal representatives, plan and advise the individual on quality of life according to his or her needs, participate in promoting public health and strengthening health.

Competences

1.Using the acquired knowledge, the student will have acquired the ability to provide evidence-based paediatric care; ensure the care of the mother, child and the education of family or legal representatives in the context of reproductive health.

2.Student will have mastered the ability to provide long-term care for patients with chronic conditions at all stages of their age.

3.The student will have acquired the ability to perform primary healthcare, including vaccination, for persons of all ages, as well as the ability to provide health promotion and prevention measures for persons of all ages.

A care plan for a chronic disease patient.

Within the scope of the work, a care plan for a chronic disease patient shall be established, including in the plan the aetiology of the illness, clinical manifestations, relevant nurse diagnoses, as well as a plan for further nursing activities and a plan for the education of the patient, including a long-term plan. The chronic condition will be selected during the lesson.

The assessment of the exam shall be formed from the results of the submitted mid-semester examinations. No less than 55% of all mid-semester examinations must be submitted and successful in passing the exam.
