About Study Course

Objective

To provide and enhance the theoretical knowledge and practical skills in pediatric traumatology and orthopedics, per the pediatric surgical specialty’s requirements to prepare the doctor for certification in the specialty of pediatric surgery.

Learning Outcomes

Knowledge

1.- to define conservative and surgical treatment indications in locomotor system pathologies for children at various ages. - to draft the examination and treatment plan for patients with acute locomotor system disorders. - To describe the peculiarities of the pediatric pre-operative work up, emphasizing the differences of urgent and emergency operations in traumatology, as well as the basic principles of treatment in the pre- and post-operative periods. - To orientate with the diagnostic methods and instruments used in emergency pediatric surgery, as well as the surgical treatment options and principles. To learn: • detailed theoretical knowledge of urgent situations in acute and chronic locomotor system pathologies for children; • conservative and surgical treatment indications and use of surgical emergencies in traumatology and orthopedics for children at various ages; • diagnostic methods, instruments and apparatuses, and practical skills for diagnostic and treatment manipulations used in pediatric traumatology and orthopedics; • to draft an examination and treatment plan for patients with acute and chronic locomotor system pathologies; • to provide qualified emergency surgical assistance for patients with acute locomotor system organ pathologies for children at various ages.

Skills

1.- To perform qualified urgent diagnostics and help in locomotor system surgical pathologies for children at various ages. - To determine the indications for surgical treatment of locomotor system. - To perform urgent therapeutic surgical procedures in locomotor system pathologies for children at various ages. - to designate quality post-operative treatment for patients after locomotor system surgeries.
