About Study Course

Objective

To develop for students an understanding of the nature and basic concepts, forms and functions of rights, of the specificities of the legal system and legal science sector of Latvia, of the legal status and legal relations of a sports educator (coach) in the work of a sports educator (coach), as well as to acquire the necessary knowledge, skills and competences in the fields of professional and sports ethics, including codes of professional and sports ethics, as well as to practise respectful and fair treatment in communication.

1.Recognises and explains the structure and basic issues of the Latvian legal system, the laws and regulations governing international and Latvian sports education system, as well as sports education and professional activities of the coach.

Study and analysis of theoretical material and regulatory enactment. Includes a report of a legal nature (place in the hierarchy, strength, content, types of norms) regarding one regulatory enactment applicable to the content of the study course)

Aspects of law in professional activities

10.00% from total grade
10 points

Include the legal aspects of the presentation in a qualification chosen in professional activity, demonstrating the acquired competences.

Students in a group or individually prepare a presentation on the issues of the chosen professional qualification rights in accordance with the directions offered by teaching staff. In preparing the presentation, the student finds and uses an appropriate court ruling, scientific papers or research on the chosen topic. The presentation shall be submitted to the e environment and presented to the group.

Role of rights and ethical aspects in professional activities

10.00% from total grade
10 points

Include the legal, ethical aspects of the presentation in a qualification chosen in professional activities. Demonstrating acquired competencies.

Student shall prepare an individual presentation on the issues of the chosen professional qualification rights or ethics in accordance with the directions offered by teaching staff. In preparing the presentation, the student finds and uses an appropriate scientific paper or study on the selected topic. The presentation shall be submitted to the e environment and presented to the group in one of the last seminars.

Group work within seminars

15.00% from total grade
10 points

As part of the seminar, students work in groups analyzing codes of ethics and various situation tasks. Students actively participate in a discussion on the topic of each class.

At the end of the study course, students take a theoretical examination on the topics of the study course. The test consists of multiple choice and open (essay) type questions. The examination shall be conducted in writing in person.
