About Study Course

Objective

To obtain knowledge about: - public health (concept, definition) as a subfield of medicine; - public health objectives, tasks and priorities; - general hygiene. Environment and a person. Environmental factors and their impact on human health; - Environmental quality indicators and their assessment principles.

Learning Outcomes

Knowledge

1.By using the obtained knowledge and understanding a student will be able to: - define and explain a concept and definition of public health; - describe and explain the objectives of public health, tasks and priorities; - present knowledge about general hygiene, environmental factors and their impact on human health: - physical pollution of the environment (noise, EMF, vibration); - air as a component of the environment, air protection, air-related risk factors, air quality assessment principles; - water as a component of the environment, water protection, quality and safety assessment principles, incl. drinking water supply hygiene, as well as risk factors related to water supply.

Skills

1.A student will be able to: - observe and assess public health condition, physical and social environment; - survey and analyse public health risk factors and their prevention opportunities.

Competences

1.- assess environmental risk factors, plan prevention measures of the impact of environmental risk factors on the living conditions and health of people.
