About Study Course

Objective

To apply previously acquired theoretical knowledge into practice, to improve practical skills and their competence in order to be able to work independently as an occupational therapist in mental health care.

Preliminary Knowledge

Assessment methodology in occupational therapy, basics of psychology, philosophy and medical ethics, conceptual practice models, assessment and classification of functional capacity limitations, creative activities in occupational therapy, psychiatry in occupational therapy, occupational therapy in geriatrics and gerontology.

Learning Outcomes

Knowledge

1.The student will be able to find, choose and explain the occupational therapist's tactics in working with patients of various psychiatric nosologies and persons with mental, behavioral and neurological developmental disorders in various practice contexts

Skills

1.Students will be able to collect systematic information to evaluate the patient, to comply with ethical standards and confidentiality. To communicate, to build a therapeutic relationship and to cooperate with the patient and other professionals. To plan, to document the treatment process and assess its effectiveness. Will be able to organise and manage the group sessions. Will be able to plan and use time effectively.

Competences

1.Will be able to formulate and analyze the difficulties of performing activities of persons with mental health disorders, develop and implement a therapy plan according to the structure of the Occupational Therapist practice process.
