Knowledge
1.Student will know how to: 1. Explain the anatomical and physiological particularities of airways based on the children’s age. 2. To demonstrate ways of airway ensurance and explain the particularities in pediatrics. 3. To formulate the particularities of anesthesia based on the child’s age. 4. To explain the specific aspects of pain and pain killing in pediatrics, to interpret the evaluation of pain.
Skills
1.In the first year (2 weeks, not less than ½ of the required number of manipulations) under a constant supervision – • Choose and practically realize the airway opening and maintenance methods in pediatrics and apply the oropharyngeal and nasopharyngeal airways, trachea intubation, alternative methods of airway ensurance: laryngeal mask, COPA • To evaluate practically the pain and sedation level for children; • To monitro the vital functions during the anesthesia and the potential side effects of anesthesia and analgesia; In the second year (2 weeks, ½ of the required number of manipulations) – in addition to the independently performable manipulations of year 1 will be able to apply the following algorithms under the supervision of a certified doctor: • Difficult airway algorithm for a child; • Fast intubation algorithm for a child in an emergency situation. Examination in the end of the second year.
Competences
1.Student will be able to choose independently and realize practically the ensurance of airways for a child as well as a temporary anesthesia and analgesia for children in emergency situations, including during the diagnostic procedures and manipulations in the prehospital and hospital Admission Department’s phase.
