About Study Course

Objective

The aim of the study course is to develop the ability of students to perform the assessment and diagnosis of a patient’s state of health based on in-depth clinical medicine knowledge and evidence-based approaches. The course prepares students for professional and independent action to perform an assessment of a patient’s health status and interpret diagnostic examinations, identify pathology, as well as take decisions on therapeutic strategies and effectively document the process. It promotes a nurse’s competence to take on more responsibility for patient care, incorporating a holistic, human-centered approach and multidisciplinary cooperation.

Preliminary Knowledge

Aetiology of diseases, pathogenesis, clinical scene and treatment and care interventions, epidemiology, preventive measures, functional and laboratory diagnostics.

Learning Outcomes

Knowledge

1.As a result of the study course acquisition, students shall: 1. Gain an in-depth understanding of disease aetiology, pathogenesis, clinical presentation, treatment and care interventions, epidemiology, propedeytics, and the nature of prevention measures. 2. Addresses the possibilities of functional and laboratory diagnostic methods and is able to interpret their results, conclusions. 3. Is familiar with the differentiation of normal and pathological physiology in the context of clinical situations.

Skills

1.As a result of the study course acquisition, students shall: 1. Is able to evaluate a patient’s health condition by applying clinical medical knowledge and skills. 2. Can interpret the results of functional, laboratory and radiological examinations. 3. Able to identify an abnormal finding and link it to clinical symptoms. 4. Able to assess indications, contraindications and side effects of treatment. 5. Is able to make an independent decision to perform therapeutic interventions by developing and using evidence-based action algorithms. 6. Can explain and document the findings according to standards. 7. Understand the principles of human-centered and evidence-based practice.

Competences

1.Ability to decide on and document an individual, group, community vaccination, screening. Ability to perform an evaluation of an individual, group, community health status after vaccination, screening. Ability to apply information and communication technologies. Ability to provide an autonomous assessment of a patient’s overall state of health. Ability to interpret and provide information comprehensible to the individual, group and community about the results of the examinations conducted and the necessary follow-up actions. Ability to make clinical decisions within the framework of evidence-based Nursing practice using research methodology and terminology.
