About Study Course

Objective

To ensure the acquisition of theoretical knowledge and practical skills in the diagnosis and treatment of paediatric diseases (paediatrics).

Learning Outcomes

Knowledge

1.Acquires knowledge about normal child development, feeding, aetiology, pathogenesis, pathophysiology, symptomatology, diagnosis, differential diagnosis, therapy and prevention of the most common paediatric diseases.

Skills

1.Able to provide qualified medical assistance to children in case of the most common acute and chronic diseases, performing disease diagnosis, treatment and prevention. Able to advise patients, their relatives and other medical personnel, sensitively build professional relationships with patients and their caregivers, colleagues, taking into account cultural and ethnic characteristics, children’s rights, principles of ethics, professional secret and confidentiality. Able to avoid unnecessary examinations, unjustified treatment and unnecessary hospitalization of the child; works in a team, cooperating with parents and other groups of society.

Competences

1.Independently plans and organises the improvement and development of one’s professional competence. Competence in paediatric diseases is sufficient to be able to solve the most frequent problems independently, and to understand the essence of the more complex ones, diagnose them and, if necessary, provide emergency assistance, refer to a specialist, as well as implement diagnostic, treatment and preventive measures under the guidance of a specialist. Integrates paediatric knowledge in the development and expansion of the competence of the paediatric neurologist specialty.
