About Study Course

Objective

To acquire basic knowledge of ecology – in terms of the biological environment and social system. To provide students with basic knowledge regarding the organisation and operation of civil protection structures in Latvia. To familiarise students with the basic principles of work in case of emergency, their methodology – duties, tasks, rights for different CP structures, as well as the methodology for preventing emergencies. To familiarise students with the Law of the Republic of Latvia on CP in Latvia.

2.The structures of the Latvian CA, their rights and obligations and the norms provided for by law.

Skills

1.Will be able to compare, evaluate and analyse the relationship between the processes discussed in the study course.

2.Will be able to take adequate action in the event of disasters and emergencies.

Competences

1.Will be able to make the right decisions (within the scope of their rights and obligations) in the event of disasters and emergencies. Will be able to actively engage in class discussions.

2.Be able to identify security threats and risks in different environments and situations, take preventive security measures by selecting the most appropriate problem-solving strategies.

Assessment criteria of learning outcomes: 1. Purposeful activity in seminars and practical classes – 30%. 2. Independent work performed by the student when preparing for practical management of study activities and other examinations – 50%. 3. Tests of acquired knowledge and skills – 20%.
