About Study Course

Objective

to train forensic medicine histology course for forensic medicine residents to be able to pass the certification exam and to work independently in the specialty.

Learning Outcomes

Knowledge

1.To describe the microscopic changes in tissue in cases of violent and sudden death.

Skills

1.Perform histological examination methods and manipulations, remove and send objects for histological examination, recognize in histopreparations for pathologies, as well as the characteristic signs of various types of death and tissue changes, assess the time of survival of the trauma (process), make a histological diagnosis, interpret the results of histological examination in the opinion of the forensic medical examination of the corpse.

Oral and written examination of theoretical knowledge at the end of each year's course: (3 theory questions), assessment of practical skills in recognizing 5 histopreparations, providing their description and establishing a histological diagnosis. Assessment of knowledge and skills in a 10-point system.

Manipulations to be performed: Tissue removal methodology in autopsy and their fixation, histomaterial excision, microscopic examination of at least 50 autopsy materials (300 histological preparations), computer processing of examination results, formulation of forensic histological conclusions (histological diagnoses), photography and computer processing of histopreparations, interpretation of histological examination results in expert opinion .
