About Study Course
Objective
Learn in depth and detail the theoretical and clinical aspects of occupational medicine, focusing on the impact of diverse and complex occupational risk factors on workers' health and long-term consequences. The course envisages developing skills in differential diagnosis of occupational diseases, evaluation of causalities, risk assessment, planning of treatment, rehabilitation, work expertise and prevention measures.
Preliminary Knowledge
Basic knowledge in chemistry, biochemistry, physics, microbiology, environmental health, propedeitics, physiology, oral diseases, neurology, otorhinolaryngology, ophthalmology.
Learning Outcomes
Knowledge
1.Students acquire in-depth knowledge of occupational medicine and occupational diseases, which allows them to navigate and present issues of: • the importance, principles, directions, tasks of occupational medicine and occupational health; • procedures for the performance of mandatory health examinations of employees, decision-making regarding conformity with work, medical contraindications for work, and fit-for work expertise; • the procedures for the registration of occupational diseases and the rights of persons suffering from occupational diseases; • the impact of working environment factors on human health and pathogenesis of occupational diseases; • risk of developing occupational diseases and work-related diseases caused by occupational factors, their aetiology, pathogenesis, clinical manifestations, diagnosis, differential diagnosis, therapy, rehabilitation and prevention.
Skills
1.Students will be able to: • navigate literature and Internet databases in order to find the necessary information on occupational risk factors of the work environment and work expertise issues; • recognise occupational risk factors harmful to human health; • assess changes in the human body in relation to the effects of various occupational risk factors on the human body; • recognise medical contraindications for work under the influence of certain occupational factors and to assess compliance with the work to be performed; • recognise typical signs and forms of occupational diseases caused by the most common physical, chemical, ergonomic, biological, mechanical and psychoemotional occupational risk factors, to choose the correct diagnostic methods, therapy and rehabilitation; • be able to distinguish between typical occupational diseases and work-related diseases; • formulate recommendations for the prevention of health disturbances in workers.
Competences
1.The acquired competence will allow: • to classify and assess the degree of risk to health of occupational environment risks to the patient, employee, society and environment; • to advise people on harmful factors of the occupational environment, the rights of the patients registered with occupational disease, fit-for-work expertise process, the procedures for recording occupational diseases and the prevention of occupational diseases; • develop preventive measures to reduce the impact of harmful factors in the working environment; • apply existing legislation and documents to address occupational health issues; • participate in the work of the occupational health team to address health and safety at work; • make proposals, plan and take measures for improvement of treatment conditions and address or reduce shortcomings in the organisation of the working environment.
