Knowledge
1.Student will know how to: 1. To recognize the symptoms and syndromes dangerous for life in disease and trauma cases. 2. To evaluate the methods of diagnostics and treatment applicable in the intensive therapy. 3. To interpret clinically – biochemical hypoxia indices, analyse the methods of their determination. 4. Define the operational principles of the artificial pulmonatory ventilation devices. 5. To formulate the indications of hemodyalisis, hemofiltration, hemosorbtion and hyperbaric oxygenation. 6. To enumerate the indications of emergency pericardiocentesis and tell the technique. 7. To name the indications of the esophageal veins’ balloon tamponade and tell the technique. 8. To characterize the principles of antibacterial therapy. 9. To evaluate the methods, indications and technique of therapeutic hypothermia. 10. To formulate the indications, technique of blood transfusion.
Skills
1.• identify life-threatening symptoms and syndromes in cases of illness and injury. • formulate indications and contraindications for patient hospitalization in the intensive care unit • analyze and correct clinical-biochemical indicators of hypoxia • examine and monitor intensive care patients using non-invasive and, where possible, invasive methods. • catheterize central and peripheral veins. • use perfusors. • apply non-invasive and invasive artificial lung ventilation methods using breathing bags and PMV devices, incl. portable. • insert pleural drains, evaluate their functioning. • interpret laboratory examination data. • apply O2 inhalation methods. • take care of the patient's airways, incl. in patients with a tracheostomy. • interpret water-electrolyte and acid-alkaline balance disorders and make corrections. • diagnose multiple organ failure and septic conditions. • apply resuscitation measures according to ACLS algorithms. • draw up a treatment and examination plan for IT patients with neurological and neurosurgical pathology, abdominal pathology and lung pathology, including operated patients, patients with endocrine pathology, cardiac pathology.
Competences
1.Under the supervision of a certified specialist, draw up and implement treatment in health and life-critical conditions in the intensive care and resuscitation department and at the stage of the pre-hospital and hospital admission department.
