About Study Course

Objective

To develop understanding, to provide theoretical, practically applicable knowledge about the types of business, to provide an understanding of the nature and forms of business, marketing activities and the basics of management, the principles of analysis and planning of company operations.

Learning Outcomes

Knowledge

1.After completing the study course, students will be able to explain basic concepts and terminology in economics. Will be able to understand the basic concepts and forms of business, define the principles of company establishment and registration procedure, explain the essence of company management, the content and necessity of business plans. To explain the importance of the market in the economy and distinguish between different types of markets, as well as the causes and socio-economic consequences of the cyclical development of the economy.

Skills

1.As a result of completing the study course, students will be able to orient in the basic indicators of economic development of Latvia, explain the role of entrepreneurship and accounting in a company. Will be able to discuss the Latvian tax and duty system and orient therein. To make decisions that affect the business, effective implementation thereof, as well as plan and analyse the company’s main financial flow indicators.

Competences

1.After completing the study course, students will be able to use the basic knowledge of regulatory legal acts in Latvia, the legal force of the document, drawing up and using documents. To use marketing for the promotion of the company’s economic processes. To discuss the most effective management styles in successful business.

During the implementation of the study course, students independently and additionally, outside of lectures, study literature on relevant topics that are discussed in lectures and classes. After that, in the classes, students take a test to confirm the knowledge they have acquired. In order to evaluate the quality of the study course as a whole, the student must fill out the study course evaluation questionnaire on the Student Portal.
