About Study Course

Objective

The purpose of the introductory course is to provide students with basic knowledge and to promote initial skills development in the field of professional interviewing and counselling in work with individuals, highlighting the specificities of different counselling approaches. The course promotes awareness of the importance of a secure professional environment, the structure of the professional interview and consultation, and the relevance of the types of interviews to different situations. Students develop basic professional communication and reflection skills within the framework of the professional activity of a psychologist. The course does not provide for the full acquisition of counselling and interviewing skills, but serves as an introduction to the basic principles, approaches, methods and techniques of counselling and interviewing, acting in the context of learning and simulated situations.

In small groups with courtiers, microskills for interviewing and counselling outside classes shall be trained and a report sheet shall be completed, which shall be assessed as passed/failed.

Independently perform a video recording with a 5-minute simulated interview demonstrating basic interviewing skills in accordance with the specified evaluation criteria.

Independently perform a 5-minute video recording demonstrating basic counselling skills according to the specified rating criteria.

Active engagement in classes

10 points

Active participation in lectures and classes, asking questions and engaging in discussions. In addition, it is possible to obtain an assessment by submitting a reasoned essay on the use of the findings obtained during the days of psychology in the consultation work in accordance with the specified evaluation criteria.

Exam

50.00% from total grade
10 points

Exam is a combined test consisting of a written and practical part. The practical part is implemented in a structured simulation in which the student takes the role of advisor, individual and observer in sequence. After simulation, the student submits a written reflection on their activities in all roles.

In order to receive a final assessment in the course, the following criteria must be fulfilled:

(1) all the work forming the cumulative assessment - tests, independent work and exam - must be fulfilled.

2) Attend or recycle (by submitting a sign for a valid reason) all practice sessions. If the student has attended less than 75% of the classes (even if there is a justifiable reason for doing so), the assessment in the course cannot be received.

A mandatory requirement is the provision of assessment/feedback of the study course at the end of the study course on the e-learning platform.
