About Study Course

Objective

To provide students with the necessary theoretical and practical knowledge about gymnastics methodology, organisation and management of classes in learning elements of gymnastics. Peculiarities, content, principles, methods and means of organising the gymnastics study process. To teach skills to use gymnastics techniques; to improve physical characteristics and psychological fitness.

Knowledge

1.1. History and development of gymnastics in Latvia and worldwide. 2. Methodology for teaching gymnastics (drills, callisthenics routine for all levels of education, posture exercises) (teaching methods, study aids, forms of organisation of sports classes). 3. Formative, summative assessment and self-assessment in learning gymnastic exercises.

Skills

1.5. To prepare and demonstrate callisthenics routine with and without accessories. 6. Knows and is able to assess the situation, explains the importance of posture exercises in terms of health. 7. To demonstrate and teach appropriate forms of posture, jumping, crawling and climbing, rolling. 8. To demonstrate and use skills to effectively combine learning principles, methods and means by organising the learning process at all levels of education.

Competences

1.9. Uses fact-based, theoretical knowledge and knowledge of patterns in an integrated way, purposefully and critically selects and uses different methods, technologies and teaching methodological materials in the study process for the needs of students and according to the learning outcomes. 10. Able to creatively organise a study environment appropriate for the objective and tasks of studies, choose study aids in learning gymnastic exercises by integrating health and safety content, other subject areas, transversal skills and values. 11. Able to justify the role of feedback, formative and summative assessment in achieving the objective and outcome of studies. 12. Able to identify security hazards and risks in different environments and situations, take preventive safety measures, choosing the most appropriate problem-solving strategies.

1. Demonstration of the choice of the range of digital tools to ensure teaching and learning of gymnastics exercises and practice technique methods and their critical evaluation according to the competence approach. 2. Technology of teaching gymnastics exercises and practice technique methods and simpler tactical methods and teaching them, critical evaluation of study theories according to the competence approach. 3. Modelling of a lesson, modification of gymnastics exercises according to the content in all levels of education, practical presentation of leading gymnastics exercises and practice according to a self-designed lesson plan and assessment of learning on the basis of a self-created description of performance levels of pupils for the assessment of transversal skills of pupils and for self-assessment.
