About Study Course

Objective

1. To provide knowledge of burn size and depth determination; determination degree of hypothermia and frostbite. 2. To provide knowledge about burns and frostbite injury patient's vital signs stabilization and emergency treatment principles. 3. To provide theoretical knowledge and practical skills.

Learning Outcomes

Knowledge

1.1. Thermal injury types, the process, principles of treatment. 2. must know the etiology of thermal injury, pathogenesis, symptoms, diagnosis, indications for conservative and operative treatment. 3. Assess the patient's condition. 4. Set the correct diagnosis

Skills

1.Make bandaging; Carry out operations: 1. Necrecktomies / osteoneckrectomies; 2. Skin transplant; 3. Different levels of amputations 4. Correctly formulate a diagnosis.

Competences

1.1. To use the acquired knowledge of the thermal injury. 2. Ability to formulate burns / frostbites diagnosis. 3. to create examination and treatment plan, argue it, analyze, interpret the results of the investigation.

Body injuries caused by heat, electrical factors, radiotherapy, and chemicals. Classification of burns, depending on the area. Burns depth classification. Burns area classification. Urgent hospital treatment: fluids and pain therapy. Inhalation injury. Cold effect on the body: hypothermia and frostbite. Reading of practical literature evaluating clinical cases, depending on the agent/mechanism of the injury. Reading of literature on surgical treatment of severe burns and analysis of its results.
