About Study Course
Objective
The course provides advanced knowledge of the diagnosis, management and long-term follow-up of dentoalveolar trauma in accordance with current international guidelines. The course develops the resident's ability to assess traumatic injuries of teeth and supporting tissues, plan and perform appropriate treatment, including pulp therapy, endodontic treatment and flexible splinting, and to anticipate potential complications while providing long-term patient follow-up
Learning Outcomes
Knowledge
1.1. Acquire advanced knowledge of the classification, epidemiology, aetiology and pathogenesis of dentoalveolar trauma and its impact on the pulp, periodontal tissues and supporting structures. 2. Acquire knowledge of the principles of diagnosis, clinical and radiographic assessment, treatment algorithms and long-term follow-up of dentoalveolar trauma in accordance with current international guidelines. 3. Acquire knowledge of the indications for pulp therapy, endodontic treatment, tooth replantation and splinting, as well as the late complications of dentoalveolar trauma and their management.
Skills
1.1. Perform the clinical and radiographic assessment of dentoalveolar trauma, establish the type of injury and develop an appropriate treatment plan. 2. Select and perform appropriate emergency management, including flexible splinting, pulp therapy and endodontic treatment according to the clinical situation. 3. Evaluate the healing of traumatised teeth, recognise early and late complications, and plan long-term follow-up.
Competences
1.1. Integrate knowledge of the diagnosis, management and long-term follow-up of dentoalveolar trauma to make evidence-based clinical decisions in accordance with current international guidelines. 2. Independently plan and perform the management of dentoalveolar trauma by evaluating prognosis, the risk of complications and the need for interdisciplinary collaboration. 3. Provide long-term follow-up of traumatised teeth, evaluate treatment outcomes, recognise complications at an early stage and adapt treatment strategies accordingly.

The written assessment evaluates the resident's knowledge and clinical reasoning in the diagnosis, classification, treatment planning, and follow-up of dentoalveolar injuries. The assessment consists of structured questions and clinical scenarios requiring interpretation of clinical and radiographic findings, selection of appropriate treatment strategies, and planning of patient follow-up in accordance with the International Association of Dental Traumatology (IADT) guidelines. |

Description
Residents acquire knowledge of the principles of diagnosis and classification of dentoalveolar injuries in accordance with the International Association of Dental Traumatology (IADT) guidelines. The seminar covers clinical and radiographic assessment, classification of traumatic dental injuries, evaluation of pulpal and periodontal tissues, and treatment planning for different types of dentoalveolar injuries. The influence of trauma on tooth prognosis and clinical decision-making is also discussed. |

Description
Residents acquire knowledge of the principles of management and follow-up of dentoalveolar injuries in accordance with the International Association of Dental Traumatology (IADT) guidelines. The seminar covers treatment strategies for different traumatic dental injuries, splinting principles and duration, monitoring of pulp vitality, early recognition of complications, and planning of clinical and radiographic follow-up. Factors influencing healing and long-term prognosis are also discussed. |
