About Study Course

Objective

To promote students' professional competence by promoting a comprehensive understanding of the principles of modern pedagogy, the essence of pedagogical work in pedagogical practice in a sports environment, and to acquire the content, functions, and initial research skills of the educational and training process.

No prior knowledge is required.

Learning Outcomes

Knowledge

1.The student is familiar with the theoretical foundations of pedagogy and the principles of organizing the learning process in a sports environment, the theoretical and practical aspects of the educational process, understands the peculiarities of the learning process at different age groups and sports levels, and is able to apply modern didactic approaches in training and learning situations.

Skills

1.The student is able to plan, manage and adapt the learning process according to the development needs of athletes, is able to critically analyze and reflect on the effectiveness of teaching, collaborate with athletes, parents and colleagues, as well as skillfully apply modern teaching methods, including digital tools in sports education and apply different leadership styles to audiences of different ages.

Competences

1.The student is able to develop individualized and goal-oriented learning strategies in sports, analyze and improve teaching results, taking into account the requirements of the education and sports sector, and integrates theoretical knowledge with practical training and educational tasks, as well as is able to realize skills and knowledge in practical implementation and research.

Lectures, practical classes, independent work, seminars, organization of independent work and tasks: midterm exams, final exam. Students' independent work is organized individually and/or in work groups. Students independently prepare for seminar classes and midterm exams.

Active participation in lectures, as well as seminars and attendance of at least 70%.

Completion of the study course at the end thereof shall be assessed on a 10-point scale in accordance with the laws and regulations of the Republic of Latvia, according to the following criteria: the extent and quality of the knowledge acquired; acquired skills; acquired competence according to planned learning outcomes.
