About Study Course
Objective
Learning Outcomes
Knowledge
1.During acquisition of the study course a resident acquires basic knowledge on the most common paediatric kidney diseases, their aetiology, pathogenesis, clinical expressions, diagnostic testing algorithms and treatment principles.
Skills
1.Following acquisition of the study course the resident will be able to carry out examination and evaluation of the objective clinical condition of kidney diseases based upon the age of the child, to gather anamnesis of his/her life and illnesses, to draw up examination and treatment plan, to evaluate indications and results of the following methods of diagnostics: uroflowmetry, cystometry, ultrasound, miction cystourethrography, excretory i/v urography, cystoscopy, as well as to provide emergency aid when necessary.
Competences
1.Upon successful completion of the study course the resident acquire mandatory competence of a certified paediatrician. The necessary level of competence varies for various cases of paediatric kidney diseases and is provided in the table below. The competence levels are as follows: 1st level: acquired knowledge complies with general concept of the subject matter, allowing the practitioner to understand the situation by reading literature or when coming across in practice, by engaging in purposeful search for necessary additional information and referring the patient to a specialist, when necessary. 2nd level: acquired knowledge on the particular matter is sufficient for understanding its nature, to diagnose the problem and provide emergency aid, when necessary, refer to a specialist, as well as to carry out diagnostics, treatment and prevention under the supervision of a specialist. 3rd level: acquired knowledge allows the practitioner to solve the particular problem independently. 1. Glomerular Diseases 2 2. Clinical Evaluation of the Child With Hematuria 2 3. Isolated Glomerular Diseases Associated With Recurrent Gross Hematuria 2 4. Multisystem Disease Associated With Hematuria 2 5. Tubulointerstitial Disease Associated With Hematuria 2 6. Vascular Diseases Associated with Hematuria 2 7. Anatomic Abnormalities Associated With Hematuria 2 8. Lower Urinary Tract Causes of Hematuria 2 9. Clinical Evaluation of the Child With Proteinuria 2 10. Conditions Associated With Proteinuria 2 11. Nephrotic Syndrome 2 12. Tubular Function 2 13. Renal Tubular Acidosis 2 14. Nephrogenic Diabetes Insipidus 2 15. Inherited Tubular Transport Abnormalities 2 16. Renal Failure 2 17. Renal Transplantation 2 18. Congenital Anomalies and Dysgenesis of the Kidneys 2 19. Urinary Tract Infections 3 20. Vesicoureteral Reflux 2 21. Obstruction of the Urinary Tract 2 22. Anomalies of the Bladder 2 23. Neuropathic Bladder 2 24. Enuresis and Voiding Dysfunction 2 25. Anomalies of the Penis and Urethra 2 26. Disorders and Anomalies of the Scrotal Contents 2 27. During the study course a resident has to acquire theoretical knowledge on the most common paediatric kidney diseases, their aetiology, pathogenesis, early diagnostics, emergency care, principles of treatment, methods for diagnostics of paediatric kidney diseases, their indications and interpretation of results, as well as to acquire a concept of possibilities and necessity of social care, paying attention to the tasks of a paediatrician-practitioner in care for such children to be able to theoretically justify actions in clinical practice in paediatrics, communication with doctors and parents of children.
