About Study Course

Objective

To gain knowledge of the contemporary holistic approach to health issues, human functioning and functional impairment at different levels (body functions and structures, activities and participation), goals of physical and rehabilitation medicine in medical and social aspects.

Preliminary Knowledge

Human anatomy and physiology, medical ethics.

Learning Outcomes

Knowledge

1.As a result of successful course completion the students will be able to: • list goals and tasks of physical and rehabilitation medicine and to describe human functioning; • evaluate functioning in accordance with International Classification of Functioning; • enumerate classification of technical aids and explain the principles of prescription; • explain and distinguish between the normal posture and gait and abnormalities.

Skills

1.As a result of successful course completion the students will be able to: • assess the patients’ health problems and functioning, using ICF; • assess the gait and posture abnormalities.

Competences

1.As a result of successful course completion the students will be able to use knowledge and practical skills in functional assessment of patients using clinical measurements (tools) at different levels of functioning (body functions and structures, activities).
