Objective
Learning Outcomes
Knowledge
1.Upon finishing the study course a resident will have knowledge of: • principles for organisation of a modern medical laboratory; • principles for doing clinical blood tests; • principles for doing clinical chemistry laboratory tests; • principles for doing coagulation tests.
Skills
1.Upon finishing the study course a resident will be able to: • assess informative value of the laboratory diagnostic tests; • differentiate composition of peripheral blood cells, use the leukocyte count formula; • determine morphological changes in blood cells; • assess clinical chemistry test rates; • assess thromboelastogram; • assess blood clotting system rates.
Competences
1.To participate in the daily laboratory operation; To acquaint oneself with the operation principles of the laboratory equipment; To assess leukocytar formulas of peripheral blood tests in a microscope; To assess results of blood clotting tests in patients; To assess results of thromboelastography; To participate in internal and external control activities of laboratory testing.
